You will find that the u bend will work just fine, it does for me.

I just bought 10 of the plastic canvas stuff at
Walmart last nite. The lady working there was staring
at me when I told her that I'm using it for fish
tanks:P I paid 24 cents per piece which is very cheap.
It's easy to cut it too.
Now, I need to figure out where to get those binder
edges. I guess I will try office depot or office max
and see if they have any.
I cut the canvas and bent it U shape and left it in
tank. I want to see how long it can hold by itself in
this way.

I like the screens you get at craft stores better --
they are used for
needle point or something and if you get one oversized
then cut small
tabs they will stay inplace great.
