Well, I would guess that would depend on the species and how
you plan to keep them.  I have kept Annualtus(?) and
Gardneri(?) sp in one tank(each) and had fine growth and
reproduction.  But I was not trying to get lots of babies. 
The Annualtus were kept in a 5 gallon and the Gardneri in a
20gal.
