Re: Yet Another WCW 2002 Speaker with convention on West Coast
I attended the '93 convention in CA. It was hosted by the SCKC and it was a
good one with fine speakers and a dandy show, BUT Russ Feilzer touched the
problem -- low attendance! Even the Monday extra trip was fantastic -- a tour
of the Desert Pupfish sites in Death Valley guided by Roger Brousseau! I will
always remember it.
As I said, it was a wonderful convention, but the CA conventions just did not
draw enough people from the rest of the country. As a result there have been
NO bids from affiliate clubs since '93 for AKA conventions to be hosted on
the West Coast! The AKA did not ignore he west coast; there were no bids. Too
bad. Perhaps the new trend willbe established with the AKA putting on the
convention and receiving help and s upport (including attendance) from the
regional affiliate clubs. I am in favor, personally, of rotating the
conventions about the country as was done -- so to speak, in the previous
years. We killie people NEED to get together as often as possible.
