RE: Yet Another WCW 2002 Speaker
Joe posted an interesting and accurate summary of why both the AKA Convention and WCW are worth attending. It is to my chagrin that WCW has always conflicted with my teaching commitments at Cornell. This will be the last year that is true.
I got to wondering how many people from the east and mid-west would be willing to attend a convention on the west coast. It occurred to me that one might be able to combine the convention and WCW in some imaginative way, that could result in a real knock-out meeting and show.
I am aware of the past disappointments, but it seems to me unfortunate that the convention might never be able to come west of the mid-west, which I think ought to be called the mid-east. We now have three clubs on the (far) west coast, BAKA, of course, Southern California Killie Club, and Northwest Killies (yeeaaaa!). We also have the Colorado club, and the Arizona Killie Keepers.
I'd like to hear comments on the idea and an informal indication of whether folks would be interested in attending a convention over on the left. If the AKA continues to organize the convention with input from local clubs (as is being tested this year) this could work.
