Tyrone,
You should put a quart jar of water in the sun for a few days until
you have green water and then feed the daphnia from the green
water. Donot put the daphnia into the green water, but put the
green water into the daphnia container. This works fine.

Why use live yeast? Why not used the powder form
avaiable in shops (brewer's yeast).

Alternatively, why not try other powder foods. I think
the Mike Reed NO-BS fry food (fine) is good enough to
feed the the daphnia. I think it would give them
superior food quality too.

Alternatively, setup an indoor green water culture. Set
it up and give it regular fertilizer (hydroponic, should
be available at nurseries) and then give the culture
some sugar (5% max mass:volume i.e.: 5 g to 100 ml H2O).
This would supply the carbon needed for bacteri/yeast
growth as well as the carbon dioxide for the green water.

I hope this helps some what.

Bye
