Re: Carboy source



I don't know the exact reason, but either the process or alcohol leaches 
something out of the blueish clear plastic carboys.  For beer or wine they 
use glass or buckets.  The buckets are all white food grade plastic that 
doesn't have that toxin.  I haven't ever seen the plastic carboys used 
(commercially) for anything other than water.  Your local bottled water 
company will probably let you have some empties for the deposit, which was 
$5 the last time I bought water in carboys.  Anything other than straight 
water, I would recomend glass.
