Re: Convention St. Louis Memorial Day Weekend 2002

I was at the Tampa Convention and participated in the auction there.
I thought it was just fine the way it was done there. The fish were
auctioned randomly. What made that work was the fact that there was a list
of the fish printed with their lot numbers. I was able to highlight all the
fish I was interested in. When the bidding began, my list of desirables was
spread through the whole auction. I was able to experience a thrill over
and over as my want list came up one by one all through the procedure. I
lost out many times to what I thought were almost crazy people spending
absurd amounts on common fish like australe, but it all goes to the AKA, so
what the heck, right? I know some people would like the fish sold in order
by class so they can be there for the particular class of interest to them
and then leave, but I think its cool to spread the experience out and
maintain the random arrangement.
