Daphnia and Moina propagation
I was wondering what techniques people are using to raise daphnia and moina.
First here is my experience. I currently have 6 tubs outside that have
cultures going. I originally started by fertilizing the water with excess
dog poop that had accumulated in the yard. This rapidly created green water
that raised a huge number of d & m. I noticed that fresh dog poop was more
effective in keeping the green water going. With all the rain that falls
here in Florida, all the dog poop began washing into the soil pretty much on
the day it was deposited. Faced with this shortage I decided that the next
best option was unprocessed dog food. I've switched to using ground up dog
food which had even better results than the processed stuff. Lately I've
begun adding small qty's of yeast as well and the tubs are now extremely
productive again but the water is crystal clear. Anyone have ideas on how
to get better results? And I would also like to try cyclops. Can you raise
them with the same techinques or do they require something diferent? Thanks
for the help.
