Hi Jose,

The Rosario LeCorte method entails tossing salt in by the handful about 1
per day for a 10 gal tank. Make adjustments to accommodate your tank size.

I would never recommend using soap on a fish tank but I do use strait
bleach. It rinses off pretty much clean.

Velvet is a disease I would prefer to cure rather than sterilize the
equipment. Just treat it aggressively.

Salt water, salinity over 1.025 should kill it also. It will also die off if
you remove all fish and snails for about a month and leave the tank empty.

And don't forget acriflavine if salt does not work. It really does work.

Finally make sure that you do not transmit the disease around your fish
setup. It travels rapidly on nets, thermometers, hoses, etc. The last time I
got hit I had it in about 6 tanks before I had a chance to react. I now
bleach everything before I use it an any tank.

I made the mistake once, but will do make it again.

I am trying the salt with the babies, I will let you know what happens. Oh I
know the babies  have it cause when I shine a light on them it is clearly
visible, plus they are scratching at the glass :)  Instead of netting the
bbs into a net I am now just draining them right into the tank, salt and
all.
Since the salt kills these buggers, is placing the sponge filters and nets
in a high salt content container a viable way to destroy them ?
Also the tanks I washed with hot water and soap, good enough to rid the
pests?
