New worm/virus

People,

Many of you will have already heard that a new malicious worm has been released, called the Nimda worm, that is spreading rapidly on the internet. It arrives on your machine as a file called readme.exe. If you receive this file, do not open it! It will spread itself via email from your machine to others. It will also start looking for vulnerable servers (read vulnerable machines running Microsoft server software) and infect them, similar to the code red worm. These machines then go looking for other vulnerable servers, the net result of which is to cause a huge increase in internet traffic. The AKA server is not vulnerable to this attack, but I just looked and it, like other servers, is taking a huge number of hits from other machines looking for vulnerable machines. If the AKA server seems slow, this is the reason.

This is just a heads up, hoping to prevent people from opening that file. Go to Symantec's site (or equivalent) for information and to download updated virus definitions.
