Don't you worry, they will spawn when they are ready in the upper
half of the mop. When the fry hatch from the egg, feed them micro
worms for their first food - bbs after one week of mircro worms.
Make sure you keep the fry water clean especially after feedings.

I have a question about floating and sinking mop.
I am using floating mop in a 5L tank with a pair of A.aus
They seems very shy and how can they spawn in the floating mop ?

>>>Despite all of the obvious "rules" that I'm breaking, I have had
excellent results collecting eggs from the mop. Initially, the more mature
Dageti dominated the mop and most of the eggs were small (Dageti-type). As
the Australes matured, they began to dominate the mop area. <<<

I'm sure that the reason you have eggs despite breaking rules by having
snails in the tank, is that you are likely diligent in collecting eggs.
Getting them before the snails do.

Also, you don't mention if your mops are floating, sinking or both. My
guess they're only floating mops since that's what most people use. If you
don't have sinking mops, you may want to try them and see if the AUS will
use them, leaving the floating mops more available (less competition) for
the dageti. Of course, the bottom mops would be more accessible to snails
too!
