I'm sure that the reason you have eggs despite breaking rules by having snails in the tank, is that you are likely diligent in collecting eggs.  Getting them before the snails do.

Also, you don't mention if your mops are floating, sinking or both.  My guess they're only floating mops since that's what most people use.  If you don't have sinking mops, you may want to try them and see if the AUS will use them, leaving the floating mops more available (less competition) for the dageti.  Of course, the bottom mops would be more accessible to snails too!
