Hi,
I've only attended two conventions, but the configurations of the hotels
were so radically different that the sales rooms were very different. I
don't know how the hotel in St Louis is set up. In Syracuse, the sales
room was huge, and went smoothly, at least in my experience. In Buffalo,
in spite of the volunteers being hard-working, really efficient and
pleasant people, the room was tiny, and as you waited in the hall to get
in, people had to push by to get to other events. But that was the
hotel, not the organization or even the principles behind the set-up.
One thing that occurs to me, from the affiliate clubs thread, is the
importance of the fish sales room to "non affiliated" AKAers. It is
their "club auction", as far their being able to get a wide range of not
necessarily rare species that affiliate club members might see every
month. So all I can offer is the sense that the organizing committee
should prioritize a good fish sales room, with easy access for viewing
the fish, and ideally, a place to sit and converse while you are waiting
to get in.
