Re: List problems (was Re: Fw: pic of piedmont shiner in [a bit off)
Perhaps what you computer sophisticates need to do is tell us computer
illiterates how to do these things; i.e. snipping out things,
limiting the reply . changing formats etc.
I just get tired of being reprimanded !

signal to noise ratio and rudeness on this list. I echo their call for
consideration in not posting html formatted messages and in being polite. I
continue to work with the fellow who maintains our list server in looking
for ways to filter out the html "garbage". This already happens with the
individual format messages but has been more difficult with the digest
format. The html problem has become worse with the proliferation of html
capable mail programs, either in browsers or stand-alone format. Personally
I prefer individual messages anyway, as I find it actually quicker to scan
them than I do if I have to look through the longer digests (even
discounting the html). That's a matter of personal taste.

periods during which there have been excessive off-topic posts and lack of
civility. I have warned people when I thought it was necessary and, at the
moment, it seems to me that we are enjoying a reasonably "restful" period.
Once again, though, I echo the call to think before you post. Is your post
really necessary? Have you snipped out everything but the point you want to
reply to? Are you over-reacting, or being impolite?

list. That would require that I read and forward (or not) every message. It
is up to you all to make this list helpful and enjoyable. I appreciate
everyone's concern and consideration.
