I heard a tale once of an old Indian fisherman who tried this pitchfork
thing. Apparently he disturbed all of the moles, ground hogs, prairie dogs
and snakes which lived for miles around. The moles groundhogs and prairie
dogs surfaced and began attacking anything they could find. Luckily before
everyone was killed by the moles the ground hogs, etc. the snakes ate most
of them saving the people. In celebration the Indians performed the first
snake dance. To prevent any other fisherman from ever doing this again the
Indians drained all of the bodies of water in the region. This is of course
how the great American deserts were first created. If you have any doubts,
you can still see the deserts in the US South West and some Indians still
 perform the snake dance.

Amazing how much history and otherwise useful information you can learn on
 this killie list, Isn't it?
