Small disease problem

Hi Doug,

Actually, the reason why so many fish diseases are seemingly resistant
to drugs is not because of hobbyists doing the best they can to try and treat
diseases using the information and treatments that are available, but due to
farms and stores pouring drugs on fish for commercial reasons. An individual
would be hard pressed to create a resistant strain of anything using the
means available to him or her. There is an element of chance in even the most
sophisticated drug treatments -- hence the many drugs used to treat one thing
-- some work, some don't. Unless one has a perfect plan for treating fish
diseases that I have never seen, trial and error is our only recourse. Like
the hysteria over in-breeding, I would hate for anyone to not try and cure
their fish because they were told they would be contributing to
drug-resistant illnesses. My trial and error worked so well that one disease
was gone with one treatment and the other only took three treatments. I
hardly think my effort led to a medical disaster. We can all sleep in peace.
