RE: To acclimate or how to acclimate.

Hi Martin,

I spoke with a friend yesterday. He claims that pup fish (C. fontinallis)
need very hard water and that the A. Mento need lots of salt, but not
necessarily the hardness.

Do you have any thoughts on this matter.

Best regards,

~RJ~

Hi
I keep serverel pupfish and Aphanius, also A. mento and they are well at the
pH level you also have.
You can add a little salt to raise the hardness, but try without first. If
your fish appear healthy and produce
good eggs that do not fungus, use the water you have. Otherwise try with a
little salt. They seems to be able to adapt when as fish, but not as eggs.

If you have questions about Aphanius/Cyprinodon, behaviour, temperature etc,
feel free to ask.
Martin.

Subject: To acclimate or how to acclimate.

Hi folks,

I have never done pup fish or L. Mento before. Currently dealing with same.
Could use some good advise.

My water conditions are as follow.

pH 7.3
KH 53.70 ppm
GH 125 ppm

For Pup fish and L. mento currently at:

pH 7.3
KH 80
GH 304

Is it better to add something to my water to keep the fish in hard water ie
epsom salt (?) or should I just drip the fish into my water. Will these guys
make it in soft water?

Your help will be appreciated by me and the fish.

Best regards,

~RJ~
