You might also try the insides of cooked peas, broken or crushed to size. I
seem to remember hearing that they are pretty high in veggie protein.
Fundulopanchax take then too (not to mention all manner of livebearers,
rainbows and cichlids).
Some killies - lineatus come to mind - will take them but don't digest them
well. So watch and see how they respond.
Either microwave briefly or blanch (quick boil) the zucchini to make them
sink. One local takes a big hunk of zucchini and screws a new steel screw
through it to weight it down. He changes a lot of water negating any
significant additions from the metal, perhaps more vitamins and trace
elements are presented that way though.
Of course there are always spirulina flakes. ;)
