RE: incubation times.
Hi Steve,
There are charts all over the net. I think Marc Bellmans has Nothos on his
web site. But in any event longer is better in most cases.
I have had GUE which only need 3 moths hatch fine after 5 or 6. I have had
FIL which can hatch after a few weeks go over 3 months.
Also you can check the eggs and see if they are eyed up before you wet them
to make sure. IMHO more fish are killed by rushing hatches than by waiting
an extra month or so.
Best regards,
~RJ~

Have any of the scientific minded on this list ever put together a chart
with the various species, temps, and incubation times, like:
Species 60F 70F 80F 85F
sp. ABC 52wks 40wks 32wks 4wks
sp. XYZ 48wks 46wks 45wks 42wks.
If anyone has that info it would be great to post somewhere.

Hi Steve,
There is no real confusion. Incubation times can be accelerated by
incubating at higher temps. For RAC for instance, I incubate at room temp
for 8 months. A friend claims that he managed hatches in three by using a
high tech incubator.
I would rather incubate cooler and wait longer. There is less chance of
cooking your eggs or getting belly sliders by rushing them.
You might disagree. But before you take any advise regarding incubation time
you should also get all of the rest of the details.
Best regards,
~RJ~
