         Reminds me of a story Leo Hoignei would tell about collecting 
zonatus and hoignei ... he never found a distribution of sizes in any 
location the annuals grew so fast that week old fish had a continuous diet 
of any fry that hatched.   It stabilized the number and provide a more than 
adequate food supply for fish that were growing at astronomical rates !!!!!
