I poke a shallow hole in the peat mix with my thumb, and fill it with food
to just above the surface. When I lay the glass or plexi on the surface, the
food just touches it. As the worms eat and liquify the food, they make a
pretty thick crowd around the hole and many crawl out onto the glass to get
to the top food. Those can be wiped off into a glass of water, with none of
the substrate attached. Feed with a baster.
