beginner fish
KI>Hi Colleen,

There are a lot of good beginner fish out there. Fundulopanchax gardneri
comes to mind--tolerant of a wide range of water conditions, eats about
anything, breeds easily, and can do well in community tanks (just DO NOT
put them in with bettas or other slow moving long finned fish).
Aplocheilus lineatus is also good for many of the same reasons, but it
is larger (4" +). Aphyosemion striatum also can be good, but it is shyer
than the first two I listed, and smaller. It would do better in a
species tank, I think, and it seems to be slightly more picky about
water conditions.
There are many, many more killies out there, but these are the ones that
I have found tolerant and easy to keep.
BTW, where are you located?
