RE:pet trade/no govt./dribble
Hi Folks,
In a very recent post which was the outgrowth of several threads which I was
following at once; the quality of fish magazines, killifish values, the
pending New York Legislation which might ban some killifish, the impact of
capitalism and the internet on LFS and our hobby somewhere along the line
these threads got more and more globalized and thereby entangled.
At some point the discussion of differing educational experiences crept into
the picture and someone mentioned how the school systems in his area treated
Religion. I replied to that post by sharing an event from my educational
experience. And an observation. It was only intended to be a preamble to my
original point regarding the impact of global consumerism and the internet
on our hobby.
I may have anticipated that some people out there might have found the
education which I recieved incorrect, inappropriate or even immoral, others
might have even approved of it. I presented it without adding any value
judgment on my part as I did not think it relevent.
I added an opinion and labled it as such, and I have no problem with people
who agree or disagree. But it was unnecessary to the point I was making and
therefore could just as well have been deleted rather than sent.
I concluded, I think, on topic. As I was actually talking about the future
of the hobby.
But somewhere along the way, I fear that I went terrebly wrong. Due to my
abyamal choice of words I have offended some people on this list. I would
like to assure anyone who was offended that it was never my intention to to
belittle their religious beliefs. I should never have written something
which could have been so badly misinterpreted.
So to anyone who was offended by my choice of words, I offer my humblest
apology. An thanks for bringing it to my attention.
But finally with regard to discussions regarding the future of our hobby I
think that these discussions have their place here and some of the list
members might share my interest in them.
For those people who do not enjoy discussions which go beyond actual
fiskeeping and go into more general aspects of our hobby there is really no
reason to leave the list, just hit the delete key. Even I do it sometimes.
Again sorry for the misunderstanding.
Best regards,
~RJ~
