Pet trade- No government needed.
In my state, small red ear turtles, piranha, walking catfish, freshwater
stingrays, pike cichlids, pike livebearers, snakeheads, tilapia (all
species), etc have been illegal since the late 1960's and the hobby and pet
stores have survived just fine. The only damage is that we no longer walk
into stinking animal hellholes to purchase our needed tropical fish supplies.
Also, within the city limits (thank god) all forms of wild animals kept as
pets are illegal. Unfortunately there have been problems out in the bonnies
with so-called private zoos.
Regulating obviously poor choices for pets will not harm our wonderful
hobby. Florida fish farms are a powerful lobby and a big industry. They have
a product to sell that harms no one. I am sure they will work to keep the
paint throwers at the fur shows and society balls.
As far as our public schools being leftist, well, I can't imagine
anything in the South being too dangerously leftist as that dog just would
not hunt there. In fact, if some of our schools get any more conservative
they will have to look to business schools for instruction in creativity and
freedom of thought.
