Re: possible NY legislation to criminalize wild pet trade

I just thought I'd drop a note here about this legislation we are concerned 
about.  I spoke to Chris Ortloff, who is the ranking Republican on the 
Environmental Conservation Committee for the N.Y. State Assembly ( Chris 
owes me a few favors from the old days when I was working as a journalist - 
not to mention we grew up together ) and he assured me that he is adamantly 
opposed to these bills presently thought to be on the fast 
track.  According to Ortloff,  movement on the bills has ground to a halt, 
but he has added me to a short list of those (along with PIJAC for example) 
who will receive updates on the legislation.  I will try to keep everyone 
aware of any action taken on these bills.
