RE: what plants do you use....Najas

All of my tanks are infested with Najas. I originally put it in there
deliberately and I don't really hate it yet but I think I will some day. It
provides good cover for females and fry but as Wright says, it will choke
the tank in short order. I pull it out and dry it for use in starting
infusoria cultures. I'll bet that when I get to where I can't stand it
anymore it will be as hard to get rid of as duckweed.

I think guadalupensis was originally from Mexico and Central
America. It's a
sort of lousy aquarium plant, and earns its common name
(with all the other
Najas) of "Pond Weed." It grows too fast and chokes the
tank. Also it is too
		brittle for easy handling.

		I love it! :-)

You might look for indica, as suggested in Rataj and
Horeman, or for
		spawning medium check out graminea.

In retrospect it becomes clear that hindsight is definitely
overrated.
