REPLY - no government wanted

Larry,

I like a good debate and I don't give a S!-h!t if you
bad mouth any politician or political party. (carter,
reagan, bush, willie c. and the present ruler)
BUT to IMPLY that I have never had any contact with
the government and therefore don't know what I am
talking about is WAY off base here. I spent 15 years
in the defense industry (ssshhh). In my role as a
manager of a Quality Assurance department I had daily
if not hourly contact with the GOVERNMENT(DoD,DCAS,
USAF)etc. I know the government and have seen exactly
how this all works. The "bogey man" is real, not to be
feared, but it needs oversight, and a very close
leash. The leash needs to have someone (us) jerk on it
occasionally to get the monsters attention.

To regulate what I can keep as a pet, whether it is a
killifish, cobra, or canary, that should be up to me.
The resonable choice should be mine to make. If I make
a stupid choice and I am bitten by the cobra and die
then I will have at least made my choice, stupid as it
may be. It is also important that if I choose the
cobra that it stays on my property. That is my
responsiblity. Notice my use of "choice and
reponsibility".

Now before you flame me and get all pissed off
understand that my rant here is only directed in the
direction of the government and politicians in general
and absolutely NOT at you personally.

So when you hear "hello, I am with the
(put government agency name here) and am here to help
you". Run, run fast and don't look back.

Your neighbors canary may be first to be outlawed and
we don't like canarys so we don't care. Your killies,
could be suddenly made illegal. It can happen.

Now off the soap box and back to picking eggs.
Regards,

Jim Eller

Quite honestly, I think the tendency of the government
to foul up "everything" is a piece of propaganda which
a certain overrated politician
made the center of his campain over 20 years ago.
It's become a touchstone for people who primarily have
no ongoing experience with the Federal
government and need a boogyman to blame for everything
that doesn't go as well as they wish.

 Larry,

I hate to see the government involved in any of this.
If this can get screwed up the government will do a
 fine job of it. >>
