TAKO show July 21-22



The Texas Area Killifish Organization (TAKO) presents the Eleventh Annual
TAKO KILLIFISH SHOW AND AUCTION
JULY 21 & 22, 2001

EVENT:
The Texas Area Killifish Organization (TAKO) will host the Eleventh Annual
TAKO Belle Revue - Show & Auction on July 21-22, 2001.  This will be an all
killifish show.  Class winners will receive certificates.

Free admission.  Entry fee for carry-ins will be $1.00 per pair to a maximum
of $10.00.  No entry fee for mail-in entries.  All mail-in entries will be
auctioned.  Auction split will be 60/40 in favor of seller.  Auction only
fish, plants, or supplies are welcome but limited to five bags of each type.
Mail-ins should arrive no later than Friday, July 20.  Send mail-ins to:

AUCTION OF SHOW FISH AND MAIL-INS
SUNDAY, JULY 22nd AT NOON
(Fish will be in bags for viewing & auction by Sunday 11am)

SPEAKERS:
James Gasior (WAKO) and B. G. Granier (TAKO)

James Gasior
Jim has raised tropicals for the last 40 years - 30 of which have been
solely devoted to killifish.  He presently maintains approximately 100
different Killie species. A member of WAKO "Wisconsin Area Killifish
Organization," he has also been past secretary and president of the national
American Killifish Association. The AKA awarded Jim the "Killie Hobbyist of
the Year" award for a record five consecutive years.  He has spoken at
numerous AKA conventions including the most recent 2000 convention in Tampa,
Florida in addition to the 26th annual convention of the "Northeast Council
of Aquarium Societies."  He has authored numerous articles on killies and is
the subject of an upcoming article by "Aquarium Magazine" dealing with his
involvement with killifish. His program reviews the last 20 years of
breeding articles contained within the AKA Journal.

B. G. Granier
B.G. is a member of the American Killifish Association and North American
Native Fish Association.  He worked many years for South Central Bell and
retired from Lucent Technologies, after working many years for them at LSU
in Baton Rouge.  During his time working at LSU, B.G. became well known with
the Professors and Graduate students for his knowledge of native fish and
their habits.  B.G. has also raised many of the normal killifish like
Cynolebias and A. australe, but is known for his ability to collect and
breed native fishes.  He knows native fish (thinks like the fish)!  B.G is
now is in the aquarium maintenance business and also raises a number of
species for the aquarium trade.

Saturday July 21st
Morning, room set-up and fish loading, working session volunteers welcomed.
9:30 am - all fish must be benched, fish room open for visitors
10:00 am - judging begins
2:00 pm - Mr. James Gasior speaking
6:00 pm - social session, cash bar available.
7:00 pm - awards banquet, reservation and pre-payment $20 per person

Sunday July 22nd
Morning, fish bagging for auction and room break down, working session
volunteers welcomed.
11am, room open for fish viewing, make your list for the auction!
