foods and feeding
Another food I really like is decapsulated brine shrimp eggs. Killie
fry have to be a few days/weeks old to eat them but they are such a good food
and so much cheaper than the hatchable cysts that I am always a little
surprised that so few people use them. Supposedly, they are much more
nutritous than hatched cysts. I store mine in the freeezer and spoon a couple
of teaspoons into a pint jar of water and stir them up and then keep that in
the frig. I use a baster and feed from this jar once the eggs have sunk to
the bottom. The eggs slowly fall to the bottoms of the fry tanks and the fry
pick them off of the bottom of my bare bottom tanks. The outside bottoms of
all my tanks are painted a semi-gloss or flat black, so it is easy for the
fry to see the eggs resting on the bottom. (Boy, that's alot of "bottoms!")
The decap eggs are great for busy schedules or late tired nights. Let the
siphoning of baby brine go and just use the decap eggs on those "rare"
(hehehe) days.
Does anyone like "Golden Pearls" or Mike Reed's new "suspended" fry
food?
