If you want easy, just use "Prime," "Amquel" o/e. Sorry.
Long haul, they are much more expensive than simple carbon filters from Home
Depot. The cartridges last a really long time.
Small setups can just buy store water with normal trace elements and no
chloramine.
Long aeration will eventually reduce the ammonia, probably. Rate will be
very pH dependent so no way to tell *how* long, unless you have a really
sensitive ammonium/ammonia test method.
Lots of plants in the storage tank, actively photosynthesizing, will use it
up pretty fast, too -- one reason all my tanks are loaded with plants and I
have a terrible electricity bill.
