Paul,
   I have no air flowing threw any of my tanks.  My tanks are very 
clear.  I change 30 to 40 percent of my water weekly.  Maybe that 
keeps it clear, I really don't know.  I have no sand in my tanks.  
Just water and yarn and fish, and the tanks are clear.  I don't keep 
any lights on the tanks that I don't keep plants in.  My tanks with 
plants in them are also clear.  The plants are in pots.  I don't keep 
sand in my tanks.  When I change the water, I use a siphon and 
any dirt that has accumulated on the botton comes out.  Isn't your 
water clear?  Say, what do you raise besides striatums?
