RE: Hatching Nothos on command...

Hi Mike,

If you use peat moss as most of us do for Nothos after three to eight months
it gets pretty dry or if you seal it better than I do, you dried it
substantially before putting the eggs into storage. About two weeks before
you intend to hatch your Nothos take a spray bottle and mist the peat to a
point where it is wet but not dripping. I suppose that this could be
accomplished without the use of a spray bottle. About two weeks later, all
of your eggs will be eyed up and ready for hatch in the normal fashion.
Note: I am providing this information not as an aid to accelerate hatches
but rather as a means of getting all of your Nothos ready to hatch at the
same time by simulating the natural trigger. In nature a small rainfall
usually precedes the rainy season which triggers the eggs to get ready to
hatch when the "big rains" come.

Best regards,

-RJ-

-RJ-,
You wrote, "Pre-wetting the eggs helps eliminate the belly sliders."
What exact method do you use to accomplish "Pre-wetting"?
