JAKA vs DKGJ
Hello
This is a unfortunate debate.
We can not compare the DKG to AKA. The DKG has more than
double the membership as the AKA and so has a lot more cash
available for a glossy mag. Until membership goes up for us the
DKG will always be ahead. A glossy mag will not attract more AKA
membership---selling killies in the local LFS with AKA info will.
From the last JAKA I got (the May one hasn't got here yet and I
fear it was lost in the post :-() one can see that things are
changing. The format had changed and there was a massive
insurgance of hobby related articles. We should be encouraging
the editor and supplying him with more material than he can
process. Sending him some glossy pictures for the cover may be
another idea... Perhaps we should ask the people in charge of
JAKA to give us a run down of the publishing costs so we can see
how much such idea will dent the operating budget. Simply cutting
the frequency of the BNL will not make masses of money available
for other applications... Perhaps we should instate the eBNL for
those people who would like it over paper (I still like paper) and see
how much more cash we have to play with. Reducing the frequency
of the BNL will effect us adversely. While only a hand full of people
list they keep the market allive and perhaps need thay BNL to keep
their stocks fluid.
We must offer solutions to the problems we point out but we must
also take into account the impact of fixing them.
