Re: KillieTalk Digest V3 #1302
Here in D.C. we hear more of the "I'm sorry Senator, I don't recall ever
having said that" My personal favorite is "To the best of my knowledge and
belief...." Every job description has "and other duties as assigned".
Back on the killie subject, I had an interesting occurance recently. I
setup a 20 gallon bucket and put a pair of A. Striatum in with java moss,
riccia and a sponge filter. The bucket was tightly covered, or so I
thought. The day after adding the fish the male was gone, the next day the
female was gone. The day after that, a male Striatum jumped out of a tank
in another room in the basement. This tank was covered but there was a
small opening wher he jumped out. The male that jumped from the tank, I was
able to find the next day, but the pair, I have never found. I've had these
fish for about 8 months and never had a problem with them jumping. I would
believe the change from a 2.5 gallon tank to a 20 gallon could have been the
problem, except for the male jumping out of the tank he was in for 8 months.
Of course the three events may be totally unrelated or something may have
happened to triger it. It would be interesting to keep track and see if
there is any pattern.
I once had a big oscar jump out of it's 55 gallon tank, twice in the same
night. The tank had a perfecto hood and the oscar hit the hood hard enough
to get out. Fortunately I was in the next room and heard the lid close, so
I picked the oscar up and dropped it back into the tank, twice in the same
night. I don't remember, but I think I put a rock on top of the hood after
that.
Hmmmm... Interesting....
