RE: KillieTalk Digest V3 #1302

Hi Tom,

I believe that from time to time a discussion will proceed from its original
topic. When our conversations wander it is surprising how much interest they
generate. I have seen more replies coming more quickly about some of the off
topics than on some of the best Killie topics. If everyone discusses even
sensitive topics academically it is amazing how interesting such
conversations can be. I never cease to be amazed and saddened how our
society has come to this place where intelligent people of good conscience
can no longer have a civil conversation.

That having been said when possible we should try to keep our conversations
on topic. And if we wander off lets at least keep them civil, informative
and cordial. In the end it is often less important who is right and who is
wrong than that a group of friends with a common interest can get together
in cyberspace and have a chat and have allot of fun doing it!

Just a thought...

Best regards,

-RJ-

Since Barry is still in Africa, I took this off the website to point out
the rules for Killie Talk.

QUOTE

The Killietalk list is provided by the American Killifish Association, and
hosted by Active Window Productions. The list is intended to provide a
forum for discussion of all matters related to killifish, by beginners and
experts alike. We hope that the list will act also as a help page for
beginners. The list is open to all, whether members of the AKA or not.
Appropriate topics for discussion include (but are not limited to):
·Maintenance of killifish in the aquarium
·Breeding of killifish
·Biology of killifish
·Nomenclature
·Reports and discussion of collecting trips
·AKA programs
·AKA policies

UNQUOTE

I hope people will keep this in mind when they contribute to the list. As
you can see - Religious conviction vs Evolution is not listed - However
discussion of AK Policy & Programs is - therefore discussion of "Issues of
dues hikes, content of major publications, and changing the frequency of
F&E listings are " appropriate to Killie Talk. (Sorry Bob)

Discussion of acid rain as an environmental factor is probably not an
appropriate subject, but discussion of rainwater and the properties of it
most certainly is as it effects our fish.

Folks, if we simply look at the above list of appropriate topics, and
compare them to ongoing discussions, it should be easy to know what topics
to simply ignore and not respond.
