R: Notho fade away---Kilombero
All right Tyrone
I have N. sp "Kilombero" TAN 95/04 but I can't register the problems you
have.
Here is my experience:
The first time I put together a pair in a really small tank (about 5 liter)
with a lot of java moss and a peat (small) container. There was little
aeration (only a small sponge filter) and everything was going well for a
pair of month or so as you report and with good eggs collection. Then the
female start to look very thin while the male was well. I was thinking to
loose my pair (at least one of the components). As a try I proceed to remove
the peat container leaving the rest unaltered. I feed the pair a lot and
perform the usual water changes. After a pair of week the female looks
better in shape and her belly was full again.
So I add again the peat container and they restart to spawn at good rate.
Then the cycle was repeated (thin female and so on).
Now I have about 15 specimen of "Kilombero" and some of mine is spread
around the world.
There are 4 males and the rest females. I keep all together in the same tank
providing a lot of java moss and two or three peat container. Time to time I
remove the peat leaving them without for a week or two. This seems work well
and I'm able to collect eggs every 10-15 days (except for the resting time)
The filtration is provided by a sponge filter and my water have more or less
the following parameters.
pH 7.2 -7.3
dKH 1-2
dGH 16-20
I don't add salt 'cause I have installed a calcium remover on my tap water
so a lot of Na is present in water instead of Ca.
Last thing the original pair is still alive and productive reaching about 9
months.
Keep well
Roberto
