Re: ALL Human activity (was Acid rain) SPAM

Actually, recent studies have reached a pretty definitive conclusion
that the introduction of humans into the North American environment resulted
in the rapid extinction of nearly all of our megafauna. Giant bison, ground
sloths, sabertooths, mammoths, mastodons, musk oxen, woolly rhinocerus,
giant beavers, cave bears, and many others were all apparently wiped out
directly as result of human predation. Of course, post-columbian human
migration resulted in the extinction of the Carolina parakeet, the passenger
pigeon, nearly the whooping crane, and a host of others less well known. In
addition, many species like timber, gray and red wolves, coyotes, bison,
elk, moose, etc. were completely eliminated in most of their previous
habitat ranges. Humans are horrifically destructive! We are seldom part of
the food chain ourselves. We even try to deprive microorganisms a shot by
embalming or cremating ourselves. As a whole, we are just consicuous
consumers who contribute little to the overall environment except
destruction. I try to do a bit better myself, as do most of us here on the
list. Thank goodness some people are seeing the light of conservation!
