collecting rain water.
I use rain water to mix with my well water. I collect it from my
downspout into a rain barrel with a sealed top. I run a supply line from
the rain barrel to a storage barrel in my basement fish room. everything
works fine and the killies seem to do well in the water mix. I noticed
lately that the rain barrel smelled a little swampy so I emptied it and
scrubbed it out to start fresh with the next rains. I also have a double
screen door type mesh in the downspout to the rain barrel to catch most
of the stuff off the roof. I know I don't screen out everything so I
filter it thru cheescloth before it goes into the fishroom storage
barrel. Does anyone out there have a better method or any suggestions on
how I can improve on my system of collecting rainwater? Thanks,
