I don't keep the store water, which is often loaded with bacteria and often
already turning pink. I put them in fresh, cold salt water. "Instant Ocean,"
"Coralife" or 80:20 NaCl and Epsom Salts work. I go for less than true ocean
density, maybe about SG=1.020 or less.

[Brine shrimp are only found in saltier water because it kills their
predators. They don't need it per se, and are less stressed at lower
salinity.]

Use a shallow container. If you have a fishroom refrigerator, the vegetable
drawer* is good and an airpump to push a fine-bubble airstone in it is even
better. The trick is to keep the water as free of bacteria as possible and
with as much oxygen as possible. Cold helps on both counts.
