Re: Convention 2001

Hey Jim et al.,
Yeah! I finally got to meet Norm and Susan in person. Great people and great fish and paintings. I was fortunate enough to be at the same table with them for the auction. I wonder if I paid too much for my Riv ornatus, since Norm wouldn't go that high ;) heh heh, just kidding, they are very cool fish, and I'm psyched that I got them. Chuck McLamb was also at my table. He was ruthless when bidding. If a pair came up that I wanted, and I saw him raise his paddle(paper plate), I didn't even bother :)kidding, he told me just to let him know what I wanted and he would have bowed out. It was nice meeting you Chuck. Someone came over to our table and said "What's the matter with you guys? Chuck is carrying your table!" It was the first auction I've been to, where we had a cooler of beer under the table. LOL

I'm sorry I didn't make it to the Epi conservation meeting (I'm a new member), I was hijacked to the store "The Fish Place" which was about 15 min away or so. I've never been in a LFS as good as this was. It was unbelievable. I did give some FAS "Conakry" eggs to Charlie N. I've been having egg fungusing probs on this fish, hopefully Charlie will have better luck. Beautiful fish.

I put a pair of T.dolichopterus Isla Raton RDB 92/22 in the show. I'm afraid they didn't do very well, because Larry Warzniak (sorry about the spelling) has the biggest dollies I have ever seen. I didn't know they got that big! Way to go Larry! Someone told me that the ISla Raton strain doesn't get as big as the V96/something strain, and also produce less eggs. Does anyone know if this is true? I did bring 6 pairs of my dollies for the fish sale room, and I know that 2 very capable breeders got most of them (2 prs to one, and 3 prs to the other) so maybe these will become more available.

Fish I picked up:
Aplocheilichthys schioetzi
A.(diapteron) cyanostictum
Rivulus ornatus "Padre Isla '96"
Simpsonichthys alternatus

A big thanks to the Niagra club for a great time. Ron

PS. I saw you sleeping in one of the talks Shane. heh heh

In fact I wanted to ask N&S if they shipped all of those awards home in boxes or did you guys go out and buy more suitcases??
