Re: Acid Rain a myth?

KI>Anyone not believing in acid rain should make a little trip to the
KI>adirondack mountains of northern New York. I live in Tupper lake NY ,
KI>1/2 hour from Lake Placid NY. Our local water supply comes from the
KI>Raquette river and run thru a water filtration plant. My tap water
KI>comes out at a pH of 6.5 and < 15ppm hardness.

KI>So anyone believing the Acid rain theory is just a Myth, come here and
KI>see if for yourself.

I will second John's comments. I grew up in the Adirondacks (1967 to
1980) and I can tell you that we (my dad and I) saw the pH drop in both
the rainwater and the mountain lakes. Concurrent with this were fish die
offs, especially trout and other game species. Since we were fishing to
eat at the time, I didn't think to look at what was happening to the
"minnows."

I thank Michigan, Indianna, Ohio and southern
KI>Ontario for all thier industrial plants for my nice wonderful soft
KI>acidic water.!!!!

Tell me about it. It misses most of us in my part of Ohio, but the next
counties over get pretty hard hit if the wind is right with smog and
contamination from Detroit and Chicago.
