Re: KillieTalk Digest V3 #1259

Hello YoHoHo,
I have a community tank right which is populated with A.
Australe Gold (5 pairs); A. Bivittatum Funge (2 pairs); A.
Ogoense 80/24 (4 pairs); D. Cyanostictum Red (a trio);
and the oddball, a very shy pair of Riv. Xiphidius, Crique
Boulanger. Feeding time is a frenzy and everybody gets
into the action, even the Xiphidius. They are of all different
sizes and there never is any conflict. I have Java fern
planted, some plastic plants which I us to support some
of the Java moss so it stays aloft. As the various females
"ripen", I plan to move them into small spawning tanks.
I really enjoy watching all of these beautiful fish and they
are not shy in strutting their stuff. The reason for this mix
is that the females are easily distinguished from each other.

Subject: Re: KillieTalk Digest V3 #1259

After the recent round on the subject, I decided to try a killie community
tank.  I am going to use a 38 gallon (36L x 12 W x 19H).   Unfortunately, I
didn't really make mental notes at the time, so now I have two seperate
questions:
1.  Which live plants would provide the fry enough hiding places so that some
might make it past the fry stage?
2.  Which species will reasonably co-habitate in such a setup?  I figure a
top dweller and bottom dweller would be best, but ???  I was thinking of R.
Milesi for the top dweller.  Any comments on them?
I'd like to start a nice thread on this, but not a fight.
