E-aka
JAY WROTE - "But I honestly believe the AKA must begin
to provide such services, or we will recruit fewer and fewer members,
because they will go to other places to get fish. "
I disagree with this as I am a new member. I am a buyer and seller of good
quality killies on aquabid, and, it is my contention that aquabid helps and
does not hinder the AKA, as it exposes more people.
Let me give an example to prove the point. I (illegally of course) posted
an AKA official photograph on an item of mine in aquabid. ( I have already
had my hand slapped and no more AKA pictures will be used. ) However, it
brought an intense interest from one of the bidders who lost. I had placed
a note about the AKA web page and such on there so people could be
encouraged to visit and maybe sign up for the AKA. This person contacted me
via aquabid to find out more about killifish. In a week he will be coming
over to observe my fish room, go home with a hand full (arm full?) of stuff
and hopefully be bitten by the bug. He is coming to the SKS meeting (or at
least is supposed to be), will soon be a member of tha tclub and hence of
AKA, and that my friend is what aquabid can do for our hobby and the AKA as
an organization.
So tell me, did it drag someone away or draw them to this organization, the
AKA. Let us all hope history will repeat itself, eh?
