Re: Virus
>From what I can find, the Virus looks at your inbox and sends itself out to
people whio have sent you e-mail. In this case, the e-mail from the list
shows the from address as the person who sent the e-mail to the list. If
you receive the virus from me, for example, it would be because I have the
virus and e-mail in my inbox with you listed an the sender. While it is
affecting people on the list, it is not using the list to spread itself. It
is using the e-mail in my inbox. While I use Hotmail for all my e-mail,
their virus software(McAfee) didn't see it as a virus. Norton which I run
on my computer did find it as soon as I downloaded it from hotmail.
Since I don't use MS Outlook, even is Norton didn't see it, it wouldn't be
able to do anything. If you receive an attachment that you aren't
expecting, wait a few days and update your antivirus defination file. When
I was Network Admin, I used two different virus software programs. One on
the servers checking all files and e-mail on Exchange and a different
package on the workstations. the servers checked every night for new virus
definations for both packages and the workstations updated every time
someone logged in. It pays to be careful, and to backup your data. Several
times I've lost parts of the windows directory for no apparant reason.
Reloading windows and all the software is bad enough but recreating all the
data isn't always possible.
