I'm a little alarmed at current Cameroon collections for commercial
concerns. Collectors strip out areas for shipments.
We have been lucky in being in an importers site on receipt and have
collected healthy specimens of each species which have been put in our fish
house after quarantine. These are being located to breeders for future
preservation.
I am heartened to hear from US breeders who have had our fish in previous
collections and now report full tanks of fish with offers of fish/eggs to
re-import back into the UK for distribution.
Surely this must be what we joined up for.
This co-operation should be exploited.
The AKA have a great conservation program in place which other associations
should work towards.
