The Killie Trader - correct info
Hi Killie folks
I wanted to jump in here and set the record straight.
#1 The Killie Trader was NOT set up to compete with the AKA.
- It was set up as an example of what could be done with a
very minimum of actual effort. I set it up in 1998. Believe
me, if it took a lot of time OR effort I wouldn't keep it
going. I have 2 young sons, a wife, job and a fish room.
(nuff said about that)
#2 The Killie Trader does not have have the AKA's sanction
nor does it have the AKA COE behind it. I is up to each
individual to make his own deal. If you get taken advantage
of, it's not my fault. But I have had not any complaints or
heard tales of anyone getting ripped off. (As a Libertarian
this fits me).
#3 I like the AKA. I am a member of the AKA,
BKA (British K. A.), MKA (Michigan) and the Greater Detroit
Aq. Soc. I support all these groups. I enjoy the comraderie
it affords me.
#4 I have distributed a number of fish back to the hobby. I
personally have distributed MANY pairs of Ep. annulatus. Of
which I am proud to say I was very sucessful with when I had
them. (before I moved)
#5 I have never had large numbers of these fish at any one
time, none to the point of being able to list in the BNL. In
fact I don't remember ever posting a listing to sell fish on
the Killie Trader more than once or twice either. I have
posted my "wants" on the Killie Trader and have usually have
had responses to each request almost immediately.
#6 The Killie Trader being internet based caters to the
WORLD!
Many different countries are represented there. I am not
sure if the Killie Trader really benefits those in other
countries but it costs absolutely nothing. The Killie Trader
recently reached 630 members in 13 countries.
#7 If the AKA wants to reach prospective new members then it
should leave no stone unturned, use every tool possible to
reach those prospective members. If this makes some members
uneasy so be it. I would NEVER advocate leaving anyone
behind. NOT EVEN THOSE WHO are still carving their messages
in the cave walls or using that manual Smith-Corona
typewriter. They deserve the benefits just like those of us
who embrace and advocate the use of the latest technology.
In fact, I respect those who have pioneered this hobby and
who have taught us what we know about it. I also respect the
current members who freely share their information with the
rest of the hobby.

There will be those who will flame me with personal emails.
Save your time and energy. I have my finger on the delete
key ready to push it.
Debate, I enjoy as you may be able to tell. Personal attacks
are uncalled for.
