Re: Information Age Holdback Nonsense

I jumped into this thread the last time it circulated,
and if I remember correctly, the main objection to
going electronic was that those who were
electronically disadvantaged (a PC term for no PC :-))
would be paying dues for services they could not
utilize. So, I can see that the argument is legit, why
should those members agree to pay dues for other
people to enjoy a nice website? Also, there is the
issue of there being no one who could have the the
resources to maintain all this information. Well, I
have a suggestion that should handle those two
arguments. Why not have a supplemental membership fee
of $4.95 or $9.95 for the E-AKA (electronic AKA). THe
proceeds from these dues to go to pay a small fee to a
webmaster (Barry) who could maintain content, and also
pay for electronic publications being burned to CD. If
you would not be willing to pay more for electronic
services like this magic F&E that everyone thinks
would be maintained daily (yeah right), then I think
you should take another look at your stance on this
issue. If you payed dues to a club and they decided to
roll out a whole new way of doing business that you
had no chance to participate in, would you keep paying
dues? Even if it were only 10% of the people who were
excluded that would be a big blow to a roster that is
apparently already depleted (considering we have a
membership conservation thread currently). Adding to
the dues to add to services would be a nice shot in
the arm for the organization. Hey we could even charge
the Cichlidiots (I use the term because I kind of am
one) to implement our cool electronic system for their
club (j/k). I suspect that this will really upset
someone out there since I rarely see a post that
doesnt any more, so please relax and open your mind. I
think added dues would be reassobnable for added
services, but then I usually opt to pay the higher
dues .(what is it contributing member or something?)
