I'm setting up my new killie tank. This is my first one, I've never kept killies before.
It is a 5 gallon, with driftwood, Java Fern, Java Moss, a heater (my basement office is cold), and either a sponge or hang on the back filter. There will be 8W of florescent light. There will by Malaysian Trumpet snails, maybe some lager Ramhorns and as yet undetermined bottom feeder fish.
I like what I've read about Aphyosemion australe and I love the appearance of the orange version. Is this a good starter? Is there another choice to consider? I'm not too interested in annuals or breeding right now.
Also, where can you get these in the Boston Massachusetts USA area? I'd rather not pay next day air rates for the fish. If need be, I can hatch eggs but I'm unsure of feeding the fry.
Thanks!
