Remember the saying about one bad apple? It probably applies here. I
would say this attitude is far from typical, at least for the members
I've met out here in the Midwest. People went out of their way to help
me when I started, giving me fish, eggs, food cultures, advice, etc. I
wouldn't still be here without their help and support. Further, I have
watched them treat other new people the same way. Members seem to feel
that it's their duty to help out in any way that they can.
Maybe this is just that Midwesterners are just super nice people, but I
suspect that the vast majority of our membership is the same way, since
I have been privileged to meet members from other parts of the country
and have found them to be just as giving.
