Re: forcing diapause
I try to either peat dry or if the fish is a mop spawner I drip dry the mop
and store it. Always remember to stir up the gravel if you use it to find
even more eggs. These I put on the peat or put in the mop. I have the best
results this way with all the Aphyosemions and Fundulopanchax I keep. The
roughly 2 week water incubate eggs usually take 3-4 weeks or more when
dried. Walkeri, Blue Gularis, spoorenbergi, puerzli and amieti go 6-8 weeks
before being ready to hatch. To keep me better organized and neat storeing
things, I use one box for peat storage and another box for mops. My mops fit
into the bottom of a gallon ziplock bag. I roll the bag up and in the box it
goes. I have had gardneri eggs go 2 months and longer and still get
wonderful hatches.
